Soccer Playoffs Announcement

The South Meck Men’s Soccer team defeated Grimsley 3-0 in Round 2 of the 4A State Playoffs Tuesday Night! The Sabres soccer team was in possession of the ball the majority of the game with some impressive skills. The score during the game was held at a standing 0-0 until the last minutes of the half when the ball finally found its way into the goal by Senior Captain Wesley Zitney, assisted by Sophomore Tanner Rothenberger. Great job guys!
In the second half of the game, there was a goal made by Malik Diallo, assisted by Nick Aliota and Greg Ona Vera, all seniors with great footwork.The winning goal was sealed when Senior Captain Nick Aliota knocked one right in the goal, raising the score to 3-0.
South Meck Men's Soccer also defeated RJ Reynolds 4-1 in Winston Salem and moves on to Round 4 Of NC 4A State Championship Playoffs! The Senior Sabres Malik Diallo, Nick Aliota, and Kevin Usma scored goals with one assist from Tanner Rothenberger. SM defenders and keeper Ross Bilon held a dangerous attacking team to only one goal.
Sabres now play in the Quarterfinals, at HOME ON SATURDAY, 6 PM vs Conference Rival Providence. SUPERFANS and SABRE Soccer family and friends don’t miss this game!!! It’s playoffs at HOME and this group of boys plays a beautiful brand of high quality soccer!
