We have much to be grateful for this time of year. Here’s some of our most important things on our list:
1) You – our parents who volunteer in the front office, bring in donations for students who stay after for tutoring, give tours, update the Senior Showcases, coordinate or serve at staff appreciation lunches (like Tuesday’s lunch), spruce up our grounds, send in donations, and do countless of other acts of kindness throughout the year.
2) Parents and staff who have contributed to IYC. Your donations make a real difference and allow PTSA to do tangible things to benefit students and staff: like purchasing microwaves in the cafeterias so students can have more time eating lunch and less time waiting in line, supporting our upcoming Cultural Fair so teachers can purchase supplies without spending their own money; Department Allocation allow teachers to purchase books for classes, attend professional development workshops, and so many other opportunities. Reminder to those who haven’t donated…it’s not too late. We need to raise an additional $25,000 to allow us to continue to support these types of funding requests for the remainder of the year. No donation is too small or too large and every donation makes a difference. Find details on how to donate at www.southmeckhsptsa.com/invest-in-your-child.html
3) Staff – From the front office staff who answer calls and greet parents, to the counselors who meet with students to discuss classes and plans after high school, to the teachers who prepare lessons, grade papers and genuinely care about all their students; teachers who sponsor clubs and those who spend hour coaching, directing performances or leading after-school activities. We can’t forget our custodial staff who clean up lunch after lunch, day after day. Last, but not least our administration who put the safety and well-being of our children first.
4)Students – whose talents never cease to amaze us – whether they be artistic, athletic, musical, or academic. Check out our students’ submissions to PTA’s Reflection Contest to see just how talented they are at www.southmeckhsptsa.com/reflections.html.
Thank you for all you do to make South Meck the vibrant community that we are. We wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving!
