The beautiful ladies on the Homecoming Court walked across the track with their fathers to wait for the announcement of the Queen, Princess, and 2nd Runner Up. The 12 ladies on the homecoming court were Freedom Brown, Carly Carriker, Nathalie Catalan, Ashley Elam, Maddie Gossett, Brianna Johnson, Chloe Larson, Mayra Martinez, Macey Morton, Daisy Ortiz, Essence Pauling, and Frieda Prosono. The results were close, but our Homecoming Queen for 2018 is… Essence Pauling! The Homecoming Princess is Mayra Martinez and the 2nd runner-up is Carly Carriker.
The Homecoming Queen: Essence Pauling
Q: Congratulations on being Homecoming Queen this year! How does it feel? “It feels great I’m so happy! I’m very thankful for everyone who voted for me out there. I’m still in shock but I’m so lucky. And I’m so happy that I got to do it with all of these amazing girls they’re really amazing."
Q: So how much campaigning did you get in? Do you feel like you did enough? "It was mostly Instagram and people reposting it, so the big thing is social media and Instagram helped me out a lot. And I did Freshman Building, so I think Freshman Building is where you need to get to because a lot of people need to talk to the freshmen because there are so many freshman. And they don't know us, so of course they don't want to vote, but if you go and talk to them they’ll vote for you. So that's what I think I did different."
Q: Changing gears, what are your plans after high school? After high school I plan to go to College of course; four year University. I’m still undecided on where I want to go, but I know that I want to minor in Chinese so it’s kind of hard to find somewhere like that, but I think I have some options that I’m looking into."
Q: So you want to minor in Chinese, what do you want to major in? "Oh! Marketing."
The Princess: Mayra Martinez
Q: What are your plans after high school? “After high school, I want to go to a four-year college, and then I would like to study to be a nurse, but my backup plan is to be a SWAT medic.”
2nd Runner-Up: Carly Carriker
Q: How does it feel to be second runner up? “It feels super awesome! I really wasn't expecting it, but I want to say thank you to everyone who voted for me and I feel super awesome.”
Q: What do plan on doing after High School? I want to go to College and get a job and hopefully travel the world with my friends and meet new people and have awesome experiences.
With spirit week and the parade, to winning the game, Homecoming was an amazing success! See you at the homecoming game next year.
