Graduation is coming up soon, and there are frequently asked questions that need to be answered. Down below are some of the most common questions. For more information on graduation, contact your counselor or Mrs. Thompson.

1. How much is the cap and gown, and where can students get them?

Most students placed orders either on campus in the fall, or online before late fees were imposed at the end of December. If students still need to purchase a cap and gown, they should go to the Herff-Jones website (www.highschool.herffjones.com) and place an order. With shipping and handling, as well as late fees, the current price is around $70.

2. When is the graduation ceremony date?

The ceremony begins at 8:30 am on Thursday, June 13th at Bojangles' Coliseum.

3. When is the practice date for the graduation ceremony?

Rehearsal schedules have not yet been released by the district, but will be communicated to seniors as soon as they are released, especially since attendance at rehearsal is mandatory, and unexcused absences from rehearsal may keep students from participating in the ceremony.

4. What do students need beforehand for graduation?

Seniors will attend an assembly in the spring, where they will learn details about dress codes and obligations. This year, because we have made significant changes to the design of caps and gowns, students will no longer be able to borrow from siblings or peers. Each student will need to purchase a cap and gown, or speak to their counselor about other arrangements.

5. How long will the graduation ceremony last, where should students and family park, and how many guests is each student allowed to bring?

While the ceremony itself will last 90 minutes (8:30 am - 10:00 am) the doors will open to family and guests at 7:30. Parking is free at the Bojangles' Coliseum parking lot, and handicapped drop-offs and parking are available. Tickets are not issued, and each student may invite as many guests as they would like. Handicapped seating in the stands will fill quickly, and additional seating will be provided for handicapped guests (plus one additional family member) on the floor of the area.

6. Are there any fees involved that need to be paid before graduation?

In order to participate in the ceremony and receive a diploma, seniors must clear all financial obligations, including library and printing fines, parking fines, and school fines (textbooks, uniforms, etc.).
