You are cordially invited to the Charlotte Mecklenburg CHADD Chapter meeting on Monday, January 14th, 2019! Serena Johnson, MSW, LCSWA, Director of Disability Services, Central Piedmont Community College, will present her speech entitled: Transitioning to College: Are You Prepared? Serena, along with other panel members Harriett H. Ford, Ph.D., Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Section 504 Specialist, Pete Resch, CPC, ACC, ELI-MP, an ADHD coach with Attention and Focus Coaching, LLC, and Seth Werner, a student, will discuss strategies to help the high school student with ADHD transition from high school to college.
As Director of Disability Services, Serena provides leadership and guidance to Interpreting Services, Counselors, and Testing and Technology, which make up the office of Disability Services. Serena serves as the College’s ADA liaison for students and participates on various campus committees that focus on accessibility and access for students with disabilities. Serena has extensive experience concerning the determination of reasonable accommodations and addressing how the environment creates barriers for students with disabilities. Serena also provides training for faculty and staff on their legal responsibilities related to the ADA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
