2018 School Year So Far

So far the new 2018 school year has been a hassle; I say this mainly stating the fact that our Homecoming was pushed back and our Spirit Week felt nonexistent. “To be honest our Spirit Week wasn't the best; we as a whole could have done better,” according to student Leah Richardson. There's also the fact that many wish there were half days during midterms, causing a lot of kids to stress. "I have class work after a test...too much stress," said student Andy Urbina. But as a Sabre family, we push through.

"It’s going ok but it could be going better" said Leah Richardson. All of this has been caused because of two hurricanes. The first, Florence, took away 3 of our school days causing a 6 day weekend. Not long after, another Hurricane Michael struck. Luckily, it didn’t hit us too hard, but it still managed to cost us 2 school days.

Academics

The 2018 school year has been challenging so far, but we are working hard! Though we have lost quite a few days because of the hurricanes, we are pushing through. We made it through the PSATs and the midterms and the teachers are all very proud. Keep up the good work as we begin the second quarter!

Sports

The Sabre sports teams have put in a lot of work to succeed as the fall sports season comes to a close. The varsity and JV football team have won many games and are hoping to make the Playoffs in the coming weeks. Our golf team has finished their season strong as well as the women's volleyball team. The Sabre Regiment marching band had an amazing last competition, winning overall in their class. The next sports season is coming in soon, and we are excited to see how we perform!

Clubs and Organizations

The students at South have been able to create the clubs they desired and they are really cool! We have so many clubs that people have joined and they would love more members in the coming quarter. Check them all out on the interclub council’s website! The Model UN Club had their first competition and they said they had a blast; the Gregorian Federation had its first successful meeting; Garfield club had a spooky meeting in the spirit of Halloween by watching the Garfield Halloween Special; Photography Club had their first successful meeting; The Writing Collective is getting pieces ready for their showcase.
