Rock The Street, Wall Street is a financial literacy program created to captivate the interest of high school girls into careers of finance. In the program girls will learn about savings and investments, budgeting, capital markets and how they impact their families, communities, and the broader economy, and real-world application of the math they learn in their classrooms. If you are interested in finance, economics, accounting or starting your own business, then this program is for you!

You’ll learn much about personal finance-savings and investments, financial markets, stocks and bonds, business case studies, and career opportunities.

You may wonder why is joining this program is so important, but today two out of three women express that they know little to nothing about finance. Students who have graduated go straight from test scores to credit scores. You will be making big decisions that will majorly affect you for years without the knowledge that you need to make those decisions. A record 40% of all households with children under the age of 18 include mothers who are the only or primary source of income for the family. That share was 11% in 1960. In financial services, women hold only 6% of senior level positions. This figure hasn’t changed in 30 years. This is a major issue, not just socially, but also financial, legislative, and talent implications.

If you want to be a part of the program you must attend and participate in 5 classroom workshops on financial tools and topics taught by financial professionals, attend a field trip to a local investment firm, and be mentored by a female financial professional in the spring semester.
